Since 1985, October has been Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink as its international ribbon color. These Pink Palaces carry the color year-round, but can serve as a reminder that women should always take care of themselves. The Beverly Hills Hotel in California
The most famous pink hotel is arguably The Beverly Hills Hotel. Reflecting both the trending country club style of the time and California’s sunsets, the original white hotel was updated to pink in 1948. The prominence of the pink color became a hotel identifier, with signature design elements like the pink and white stripes becoming classic features, all leading to the hotel’s “Pink Palace” moniker.
The Presidential Bungalow’s master bathroom is designed for luxurious living and relaxation. With ten feet of counter space, there is plenty of room to spread out on the dual sink vanity. There are three bathing options: Take a therapeutic soak in the welcoming freestanding tub; indulge in the large shower with a rain shower and two adjustable showerheads; or experience the private outdoor garden shower.
Las Brisas Acapulco in Mexico
Pink has always been the color theme of Las Brisas Acapulco since it first opened over 50 years ago. It has been considered a landmark destination since the 1970s, where Hollywood movie stars and the “who’s who” of the international social scene vacationed. Hidden among 40 acres of hibiscus gardens on a hillside high above the famous Acapulco Bay, the 251 bungalow-style rooms all have their own pools and some of the best views in Acapulco.
The recently renovated spacious bathrooms are as unique as the hotel itself, with hand-selected stone surfaces on the vanities, showers, and walls, with pink accents throughout. The open-air bathrooms have modern fixtures maintaining a rustic style with glass ceilings, massage showerheads, and a plasma TV. Many have views, others have skylights and fresh plants. The welcome bottle of wine and hors d’oeuvres are inviting touches.
Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa
Set in the heart of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain, the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel stands out in this vital city. Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel was given its perky pink coat to celebrate the end of World War I. The hotel retained its pink blush as the trend was popular throughout Europe for the next few decades. The special “Mount Nelson Pink” hue was developed by paint experts to formulate a shade calculated to fade to a specific color between coats.
Belmond Mount Nelson recently completed an eight-year renovation, with 48 entirely redesigned rooms and suites in the East Wing. The suites at Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel offer spacious earth toned-colored marble bathrooms with a separate shower and bath. They also come with a built-in wardrobe in the bathroom.
The Royal Hawaiian Resort in Waikiki, Hawaii
Celebrating its 90th birthday is the landmark hotel The Royal Hawaiian Resort located on Waikiki Beach. The “pink palace of the Pacific” beachfront resort is one of the first hotels established in Waikiki and is considered one of the most famous in Hawaii. The bright pink stucco building is the original color, with pink schemes throughout the hotel reflecting its exterior.
The hotel has two different accommodation styles, its original Historic Wing and the more contemporary Mailani Tower. Each guest room is designed and enhanced with modern comforts and amenities that are unique to the legendary location. The suite bathrooms are outfitted with Frette linens including signature Royal Hawaiian robes, Malie Organic bath amenities, and TOTO toilets. The Historic Wing marbled bathrooms have long double-sink vanities with mosaic tile walls as backsplashes. The Kamehameha Suite includes a soaking tub that overlooks the lanai with a view of the ocean.
