There are few better excuses to travel than a friend’s wedding, and Zakynthos turned out to be the dreamiest backdrop. Known for its cliff-framed beaches and Ionian blue waters, the island feels a little wilder and softer around the edges than other Greek hotspots.

We stayed at LeSante Blu, an adults-only retreat perched above the sea. Each suite came with a private plunge pool overlooking the horizon — exactly the kind of place where you spend mornings floating with coffee in hand, watching boats glide by below. The hotel itself is sleek and whitewashed, with minimal lines that let the views do all the talking.

The wedding festivities spanned days. It kicked off with a rehearsal dinner at Porta del Mar Beach Resort, an intimate spot right on the sand. We feasted on local seafood, drank carafes of house wine, and danced barefoot as the sun set in a streak of lavender.

The ceremony took place at Zakynthos Villa Golden July, a stunning private property surrounded by olive trees. White flowers, rustic wood tables, and strings of fairy lights transformed the space into something out of a modern myth. As night fell, the music picked up and guests from around the world found common ground on the dance floor.

The morning after was reserved for recovery of a different sort — yoga and a pool party at The Cotton Club. With gentle stretches, fresh juices, and then a slow slide into sun loungers with Aperol spritzes, it was the perfect wind-down.

Beyond the wedding, Zakynthos offered plenty to explore. We took drives through tiny villages, bought honey and olive oil from roadside stands, and found hidden coves where the water was clear enough to see the fish circling your ankles.
This trip was about celebration, connection, and little luxuries: the laughter of old friends, the taste of salt on your lips after a swim, and nights under strings of lights that made even grown-ups feel a bit like kids again. Zakynthos delivered all of it in sun-soaked style — a place we’ll all be talking about for years to come.
