Stock Island, formerly an industrial fishing village situated among the mangroves along Shrimp Road in Key West, is in the process of converting itself into an upscale version of its party town neighbors. The transformation started with a newly developed 220-slip deep-water marina, and has recently been elevated by the standard of accommodations at the new 100-room boutique Perry Hotel Key West.
DESIGN & DECOR
The hotel is an angular modern structure that pays homage to classic wharf buildings, the local shrimpers and fishing boats, with large open public spaces that flow from one area to another. Concrete floors combine with warm comfortable furnishings, natural wood pieces and local artwork. The Perry Key West guest rooms are equally large and comfortable. Unique tri-colored wood flooring and custom wood headboards blend seamlessly with the simple dark wood furnishings. The bathrooms are also open plan, with sinks and vanities expanding into large showers, with separate toilet rooms. Each room comes with its own private balcony and all have ocean views.
FOOD & DRINK
Matt’s Stock Island kitchen and bar is on the forefront of the food and drink scene. Every dish made by Chef Ryan Fredstorm is as creative and delicious as the next. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with seating indoors and out, Chef Ryan uses local staples such as stone crab, snapper and Key West pink shrimp. The Salty Oyster dockside bar and grill is the hotel’s year-round outdoor restaurant Serving casual fare for lunch and dinner such as burgers, po’boys and oysters.
AMENITIES
The property has workout rooms and lounges on each floor, a waterfront swimming pool, and outdoor fire pits.
OTHER
Aside from the state of the art floating dock that accommodates yachts up to 300′ long, the Marina village comes complete with an two dog parks, an organic community garden, an on-site distillery, a local artists studio, a convenience store, laundry room, an orchid greenhouse, and handmade crafts and crafts.
Looking forward to coming back to see Stock Island’s metamorphosis.
