Focus On… Four Seasons Toronto

Exterior

By Angela Fairhurst

The very first Four Seasons Hotel opened in 1961 and was located in downtown Toronto.  This followed with a Yorkville location that was open from 1978 until 2012, when the operation moved down the street to its brand new building – the current Four Seasons Hotel Toronto.  Set in the middle of Toronto’s high-end retail shopping and restaurant quarter, at 55 stories high, the Four Seasons Toronto has floor-to-ceiling hotel views of the downtown Toronto skyline and the trees to the north overlooking the mansion-lined streets of Rosedale.

DECOR

Modern furnishings in a neutral color palette adorn the spacious 259-room property, which includes 42 suites, making for a relaxing retreat.  The large limestone bathrooms have granite counter vanities with double sinks, deep luxurious soaking tubs, separate rainfall showers and toilet rooms, with amenities by Etro, that add to the serenity of the environment.

DINING

The hotel’s main restaurant, Café Boulud, is the flagship restaurant of Chef Daniel Boulud, a French Brasserie inspired by Chef Daniel’s traditional family meals in Lyon.   Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the retro-modern restaurant is suspended above the street level and features a wraparound bar and low-banquette seating.

Just below the restaurant is D|BAR, the lively lounge serving an array of lunchtime favorites, bar-friendly fare, and a large variety of uniquely mixed cocktails. A DJ plays in the late evenings.
