Locations in this article: Bangkok, ThailandParis, France

Who doesn’t love a room with a view? From the desert to the sea and in cities throughout the world, the inspiring views are what made Luxe Lodgings contributor Angela Fairhurst pay special attention.

Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa in Arizona

In the heart of the Arizona desert is Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa. The 53-acre resort is terraced on Camelback Mountain, which is named for its obvious shape. The resort is family-owned and has expanded over time to include an array of accommodations from Mountain, Spa, Terrace, and Camelback Casitas, as well as some private estate homes. The red desert sunsets give the most special views, especially from the terrace of their Elements restaurant.

Coral Beach & Tennis Club in Bermuda

Bermuda is picking up steam for the upcoming America’s Cup sailing competition in June, with the North Atlantic Ocean wind conditions that make the waters surrounding the island ideal for sailing. Located on the 21-square-mile island’s South Shore is Coral Beach & Tennis Club, a legendary private resort set on 26 acres of lush sub-tropical gardens and grounds with a view overlooking the white sand beaches and clear turquoise waters. The beach and ocean take center stage throughout the property, as each of the dining terraces, 31 guestrooms, and most of the nine cottages look directly out to sea. The design and layout of the grounds, gardens, and accommodations is understated and authentically Bermudan. With renovations underway on a three-year plan, the improvements will only enhance the overall experience.

Paris Perfect in France

Paris Perfect has locations in several of the city’s charming neighborhoods, allowing guests to live like a Parisian in their own apartment. Our pick is a charming unit called Chambertin. The one bedroom, one bathroom unit sports three sets of large French doors opening onto a private balcony in a picture perfect spot. Day or night, from the living room, kitchen, or even the clawfoot tub in the bathroom, there’s a view of the Eiffel Tower overlooking classic Parisian buildings and treetops.

Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis in Panama

Set in a striking 66-story tower overlooking Panama’s oceanfront in one of the top-rated locations in Panama is the Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis. The property has unparalleled views of the city and the Bay of Panama. The star view is from Bits, the “bar in the sky” on the 62nd floor. Surrounded by glass, the bar opens nightly at 8 p.m. This hotel is aptly named Megapolis, with 1,500 rooms and suites. The family-friendly, Rock ‘n Roll-themed hotel has spacious, stylish rooms with contemporary décor.

Las Brisas Acapulco in Mexico

Famous for its pools—with over 250 on property—Las Brisas Acapulco in Mexico has some of the best pool views. The pink and white resort is nestled among 40 acres of dense hibiscus gardens on a private hilltop above Acapulco Bay. Each room is a standalone casita with a private or shared pool. The attractive views juxtapose the deep blue sea and the lush complexion of the surrounding tropical vegetation. Las Brisas Acapulco resort has long been frequented by movie stars and VIPs—probably because of its distinctive ambiance and secluded tranquil elegance.

Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba in Peru

The most recent addition to the Inkaterra portfolio is the Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba, a mountain hideaway that lies within the Sacred Valley of the Incas on 100 acres of green mountains showcasing native flora and fauna. Located within the Peruvian Andes between Cusco and Machu Picchu, each of the property’s twelve suites and 24 casitas has its own fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows that give a panoramic view of the Andes. The contemporary hotel is colonial inspired, with rough carved wooden beams, locally made colonial inspired furniture, Inca masks, and handcrafted woodwork.

Casa Palopó in Guatemala

Located in Lake Atitlan in the Guatemala Highlands is Casa Palopó, a seven-room boutique hotel that was once a family home. Each of the Mayan-inspired rooms is individually decorated with indigenous Guatemalan artwork. Views of the lake and its three volcanoes can be enjoyed from any of the hotel’s seven guest rooms and their private terraces furnished with wooden loungers. The misty clouds that adorn the mountain tops, and the twinkling lights of the indigenous Mayan towns that surround the shore make the views all the more mesmerizing. This is a true hidden gem, off-the-grid escape.

Soneva Kiri in Thailand

Soneva Kiri luxury resort is located on Thailand’s fourth largest (but least populated) island, Koh Koo, and is a one-hour private plane ride southeast of Bangkok. The resort has 36 large pool villas scattered on the beach level, hillsides or clifftops, all overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. The environment is pristine, situated between the untamed ancient rain forest and the unspoiled beaches, where you can observe the local fisherman. The resort offers a unique high tea. From 4 to 5 p.m. each day you can enjoy a treetop dining experience in a bamboo pod that hoists up to four diners into the tropical foliage. You can view the boulder-covered shoreline while enjoying tea and Thai nibbles delivered by a waiter on a zipline.
