For the full impact of the ever-changing city of Shanghai, we found Hyatt on the Bund where there are spectacular views of the notorious glass high rises. To give a little history, the Bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai that was initially British until the International Settlement, when the British and American city sections were combined in 1842. It’s become one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai due to the building height restrictions in the area.
Each one of the 631 guestrooms of Hyatt on the Bund look out on the Bund’s historic buildings or the skyscrapers of the Pudong. Best of all, many rooms also have views from the bathroom!
Hyatt on the Bund has a simple, contemporary design. In keeping with the latest trend in hotel design, the bathrooms are considered more important than the room itself, with a significant bathroom-to-bedroom size ratio. The spacious marble baths have deep soaking tubs and glass panelled rain showers, and each bathroom has a television. We love this bathroom because even though the elevated stone tub is serene and private, you can still look out on Shanghai’s pulsating nightlife.
