Luxe Lavs: Bathe in Bollywood

You don’t have to go to India to experience Bollywood design. In Singapore’s Little India one of the world’s most surprising hotel bathrooms is a brightly-colored homage to Indian style. Learn about it our latest Luxe Lavs‘ spotlight.

At the end of a lively street in Singapore’s Little India is an old 1920’s school house transformed into the Wanderlust Hotel. Wanderlust Hotel is a living visual Indian film, part chic and part street. Its whimsical decor and bright lights have made  it a multiple design award winner.

At the Wanderlust, the bathrooms are movie stars themselves, with so much variety we can’t even pick a favorite. Because each room-type is designed by a different local art agency the unique personalities are reflected in the bathrooms as well.

The “Pantone Rooms” are lit in one neon color, red or yellow, which is a modern art ode to Flavin, but the tub is a vintage one-of-a-kind cast iron tub. Lounging in the yellow/red lit tub, guests view the glass shower, stand-alone sink and for fun the glass-encased toilet.

The Pop Art rooms have faux furniture art on the walls and a tub surrounded by glass.

The loft rooms have leaves hanging from the ceiling evoking a nature escape accented with wooden paneling up to the suspended “treehouse” bathroom.

In the lobby,  glam meets grunge.  Vintage furniture, fifties dentist chairs, foozeball and a mini bookstore are surrounded by Bollywood posters and a cocktail bar with unique martinis.  Just like the city of Singapore itself, it’s down and dirty meets clean, chic and modern.
